There's a lot happening! Where to start?!

Mir has been busy taking part in Occupy Portland, joining in mass rallies and protests as well as bringing MW songs to the people. We will post videos on our FB page for you at https://www.facebook.com/miriamswellmusic

We just finished a new Occupy tune called Union Song, co-written with our friends from Philadelphia, The Turnips. While we've been playing the song live, the session isn't yet available, but the coast to coast recording is coming out soon. The video idea for the song is to have our friends at Occupy sites everywhere sing and tape Union Song and all of the videos will be edited together. Will post when we have it. Unite.

We just got back from Yakima,WA for a show at Bill's Place. Not only were they blown away by the band, but they've asked us back for full weekend shows once a month. Dates TBA.

Boise's been going really well at Tom Grainey's. We're heading back for another full weekend of shows there on 12/2 an 12/3. These will be ongoing as well.

Looks like we're also receiving heavy interest from festivals for the Spring/Summer 2012. Fests TBA

And SXSW plans are in the making. We're waiting to see how many showcases we'll be doing in Austin and the tour is coming together for that as we write. Looks like we might just have sponsorship to provide a bus/gas/rooms for us this year. It's not a done deal yet, but please keep your fingers crossed for us!

There's a special show coming up on Nov 26th in Portland called The Next Waltz. It's a re-make of the The Band's, The Last Waltz. We will be one of 3 house bands for the night playing 8 songs with 8 different singers. The same goes for the rest of the night with the other bands. This is a concert not to miss if you're in Portland. https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=220500291346009&ref=ts

That's it for now. More news coming soon!

Peace and love.

Mir and Mark

Diamonds, from our album Indians And Clowns, is the Single of the Week on John Shelton Ivany's Top 21. We are the 5th review down, just beneath the Cars and Death Cab For Cutie! Please check it out! I was a bit blown away at his ability to pull the meaning out of our music. Read the review here.

A huge thank you to the beautiful state of Idaho for embracing us in a very major hug! We played Tom Grainey's in Boise, they invited us back, and they dug the shows so much that they're gonna have us back monthly for full weekend shows. Pocatello got the bug and will be having us back. I believe McCall's is comin down the pike along with Ketchum.

Hey T.G's thanks for the other night! Your bartenders rock! See you soon.

Tue, 06 Sep 2011

Leaving bright and early Thursday morning for a few shows in Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Go to the show page for details.

See you all out there.

The June Tour is only days away...we've been working out things at shows in St. John's and out in Walla Walla at Sapolil Cellars when this email came our way. I guess we're doing alright! See you on the road...

Hey this is Keith,

I caught your show last night @ St. Johns Pub, once again you guys ROCKED MY WORLD!  I brought in a couple of friends who were 1st timers and they absolutely LOVED it!  Right after you jammed “The River” Lee came up on stage and sang w/you on a couple tunes, I told my wife, “honey we don’t need to go to church on Sunday because we have been BLESSED here tonight!”  The only thing better than seeing Lee jam live was getting to chat w/The Man after the gig.  Always nice to reminisce the Motown Mojo!  It was a KICKASS time last night, and I appreciate all the hard work you guys put into the show, BELIEVE me it comes through!  I also wanted to thank each of you for signing my CD, I can’t believe I got all 10 autographs!  I told a buddy of mine who lives in MO. About your upcoming gig in Columbia, hopefully he can make it the show.  Anyway, have fun out on the road, play hard, sleep fast & drive safe!

P.S. If that horn section from last night doesn’t have a nickname I suggest the “Kamikaze Sax Attack”  because that was that’s a Divine Wind they were blowin’!

Peace,

Keith  -out-

So far, the Joplin Animal Rescue has recovered and rescued over 300 animals and there are many more to go.

If you would like us to deliver a check from you, please email us at info@miriamswellmusic.com and we will deliver it personally or go the website at http://www.hsmo.org/

Our two shows in MO will be benefits for the Joplin Animal Rescue. We hope you can help.

Thanks so much.

Lots of shows coming up starting this Friday the 13th at Plews Brews, our most high and esteemed venue in the village of St. Johns, our house of houses, where the people only know how to be oh so good.

You can follow our shows on the website show page. There are too many to list at the moment and more on the way.

If you haven't "liked" us yet at FB, you might want to in order to grab all the stories from the road once again in June. That's where they'll be posted. We're heading out for a 2+ week tour starting in WA and heading out to MO and everywhere in between. Hopin' cops aren't a part of the stories this time around! I seem to find them wherever I go, from AZ to ID.

https://www.facebook.com/miriamswellmusic

We'll have horns from now on at every show and a good friend of ours is bringin percussion to most shows unless he's touring with Low Rider. Check out Chuk Barber. Bad ass!

The sound person gave us extra time at the end of the set. This is Could This Be Love.

Wow, last show is here tonight in Salt Lake City at Carol's Cove. What an incredible tour! People have been asking me what my favorite show was and the truth is that all the shows and all the people we've met on the road, the bands, club owners, fans, etc. have been amazing. SXSW definitely blew my mind. I've never experienced anything like it and I can't wait to do it again next year. Our showcases at Touche and Chuggin Monkey were off the hook.  Met Gene from Vancouver,BC who videotaped the Chuggin Monkey show and we're gonna work together in the future. Red Gorilla, the folks who put together our showcases, were outrageously cool. The clubs we played in Phoenix,Lafayette,OK City, Denver and Boulder were bleeding with generosity. Mark and I looking forward to playing each one again and then some.

Lee Garrett showed up to surprise us in Boulder at the Rock N Soul Cafe. We did a set of songs we'd written together and then went into his tune, Signed,Sealed,Delivered and a medly of tunes from his Motown days. The club went wild. A major photo session ensued after that show w/ the band and Lee for fans at the show and for the workers at the club. Thanks to Cheryl and Sam, owners of the venue. You two are awesome!

Videos are coming as are photos from the tour. I promise!

We go on tonight at 11 and then the long ride home.

Peace and love to you and thanks for following us on the road!

Tune in if you haven't already to us at facebook.com/miriamswell or www.miriamswellmusic.com.

See you in a few hours Portland!!

Mir.

The UK's Maverick Magazine got wind of Indians And Clowns by Miriams Well and wrote an incredible review. You have to purchase the magazine to read the entire review by Russel Hill, but it ends like this:

"A superb album by an act I recommend to all; you would be a crazy fool not to check it out"...

The review is on page 76 for those of you who download decide to download Maverick.

If you don't know Maverick Magazine, you're really missing out. It's one of the classiest music magazines around. Honestly.

Miriams Well played at Plews on Feb. 18th to celebrate Mark's birthday. The house was packed. Lee Garrett joined the band for a storming rendition of his song, Signed,Sealed, Delivered to an off the hook crowd. It was wild. Lee joined the band for a few more tunes he co-wrote with Miriam and Mark and, needless to say, Miriams Well will be back at Plews on April 8th as they play their first show in PDX post-SXSW Tour. Check the calendar online at www.miriamswellmusic.com.

Thank you for helping us raise our base of $500 through Kickstarter. The great news is that donations can continue to come in through Feb 12th, so if you haven't had a chance to help out our tour, there's still time left! Maybe we can reach $1000!

Just finished 2 days of vocal sessions at Big Red Studio in Corbett for our 2nd album.  Billy Oskay is a great engineer as well as being totally insightful and awesome!  He called Klaus Heyne, genius microphone builder, to send over what he thought I should sing into for the sessions.Klaus heard our album and nailed it!!!!  It was amazing. It was like singing thru a mic built just for me. I found out during the first session that this was the same mic he sent down to Sheryl Crow to use for a tune or 2. I must thank her for the magic she sang into it! Excited to get out album #2 to share with everyone...coming sometime in 2011. Thanks Billy, Klaus and Sheryl! For info on the mic, email Mark thru the website! Stay tuned for touring dates...

If you want us to get to your town, write us and let us know...we'll work it in eventually!

We've got our new European Press and radio on our website now for you to check out and we'll keep adding more as they come in.

Wishing everyone a beautiful new year and we'll see you soon!

I've heard from a lot of people that it's risky for us to spend money on going down to LA to play. My most recent experience couldn't be any further from the truth. I got to play with such incredible players--a drummer I'd never met before, and a bassist and keyboard player I'd only had the chance to play 4 songs with at a previous gig. Let me name drop for a moment. Feel free to go their websites. Loren Gold was the keyboardist.Check out his videos from his tour w/ Roger Daltry on his website! David Sutton, the bassist, will be back out on the road w/ Lucinda Williams very soon.I've never heard our song The River played as if it was owned by the bassist. David now OWNS it! Craig Macintyre on drums, whom I had never met until a 1/2 hour before the first show, came in fresh off the Colbie Callait tour and is also Josh Groban's drummer. Did I say we hadn't rehearsed? KILLER!! Steve Postell, as many of you know, mixed our Indians And Clowns album and plays guitar w/ us when we're in LA. And of course, Mark was stellar as usual.

I know I'm going on excessively about this group of players, but for me, to have these guys backing me and supporting me while I sing, was just far more than hip. It was an experience that I'd like plenty more of. So L.A., we'll be back. That's what i'm sayin.

Peace.

Trista has joined our Miriams Well circle as the "everything" woman. She's currently helping us with booking and wil be leading our street team as well. She's amazing and we're so glad to have her. Trista was born into the San Fran music scene as her mother worked for Bill Graham Presents. She grew up going to Grateful Dead shows, getting to know the Allman Brothers and everyone inbetween. She's currently the Merch Queen for McMenamins Edgefield and also works the Wonder Ballroom. If you see her, say hello.

Man, guess I'll start with the Waterfront Blues Fest. Steve Kerin, our keyboardist, invited us to join him over at Hotel 50 on Friday, the second nite of the Blues Fest. We joined his band to do a bunch of Miriams Well songs.

Then on Sunday, we played The Waterfront Blues Fest! THis was the third time Miriams Well played the WBF. Hopin with fingers crossed for next year on the only the Miller Stage, the only stage we haven't played yet.

This weekend was the Remember Jerry Fest in Sagle,ID. Really fun, tripped out, beautiful people kinda fest with hospitality to live for!! John and Mesha, thanks for the house! And Steve for having us. Next year, right?

Now to this week. Tomorrow(Tuesday, July 13th)we play Noon Tunes in Pioneer Square, a show sponsored by KINK radio. I'm thinking it's gonna be on the radio at 101.9 and I heard it will be on TV on KGW Channel 8, tho I"m not sure.

Thursday nite we'll be headlining the GulfSongs show at The White Eagle. The show starts at 8ish and we're on around 10:45 or 11. These concerts are to raise money for fisherfolks out of work along the coast due to BP's disaster.

Saturday is the Farmers Market @ 1N Freemont in NE PDX. On at noon for a few hours. It's gonna be a party with a lot of vendors so come on out.

And Saturday nite is on the mountain in Zig Zag at The Skyway Bar and Grill. It's gonna be a trio from Miriams Well instead of the full band...Mark, Steve and myself. They've got great food there and the people are Oregon cool. And I'm thinking you know what I mean.

So, that's the week. Welcome in. Hope to see you soon.
